Bald Knob Animal Control has confirmed that a second skunk has been reported in the area, this time off Bald Knob Lake Road near Highway 258. With two rabid skunks found in close proximity, this location appears to be a hotspot for rabies activity.

Important Reminder: Do NOT Shoot Skunks in the Head
If you encounter a skunk behaving aggressively or acting strangely, please do not shoot it in the head. The Arkansas Department of Health requires the brain to be intact for rabies testing, and headshots can make it impossible to confirm the presence of the virus. Instead, report the animal immediately to Bald Knob Animal Control so it can be captured and tested properly.
How to Stay Safe
• Keep Pets Vaccinated – Ensure your pets are up to date on their rabies shots.
• Avoid Contact with Wildlife – Do not approach or attempt to handle skunks, raccoons, or other wild animals.
• Secure Trash and Pet Food – This helps prevent wildlife from gathering near your home.
• Report Unusual Animal Behavior – If you see a skunk or any animal acting strangely, contact Bald Knob Animal Control immediately.
