Exciting news for all train enthusiasts and families in Bald Knob! The legendary Big Boy No. 4014, the only operational locomotive of its kind, is making its way to Arkansas as part of the “Heartland of America Tour.” This historic steam engine will depart from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and journey through nine states, including our very own Arkansas.
Mark your calendars for Friday, September 13th, when Big Boy will arrive in northeast Arkansas, passing through locations like Piggot, Hickory Ridge, Brinkley, Pine Bluff, North Little Rock, Kingsland, and Texarkana. It’s a rare opportunity to witness this incredible piece of history up close, and it’s sure to be a memorable experience for the whole family.
Big Boy will continue its journey through our state until September 17th, when it heads to Texas. With only 25 Big Boy engines ever built, and No. 4014 being the sole survivor still in operation, this is a sight you won’t want to miss!
We hope to see you along the route to catch a glimpse of this magnificent locomotive.
