On Tuesday, November 5th, voters in Bald Knob will have the opportunity to weigh in on an important decision regarding the Bald Knob School Millage 38.50 Mill School Tax. This proposed tax rate is identical to the current one, meaning it WON’T result in an increase for taxpayers.
Here’s a breakdown of the proposal:
Current Millage Rate:
• The total proposed school tax levy of 38.50 mills includes:
• 25.0 mills for general maintenance and operations
• 13.50 mills for debt service
What Your Vote Means:
• A Vote FOR:
• Restructures outstanding bonded indebtedness
• Extends the existing debt service mills
• Generates $10,400,000 in project funds to build a new elementary school and relocate power lines underground
• No change to the current 38.50 millage rate for taxpayers
• A Vote AGAINST:
• Maintains the current tax rate of 38.50 mills
• Bald Knob Public Schools (BKPS) will not issue bonds
• BKPS will not have funds to build a new elementary school
Regardless of whether voters choose “FOR” or “AGAINST,” the current millage rate of 38.50 mills will remain unchanged.
Proposed Projects:
• Build and equip a new elementary school
• Relocate power lines underground
If you have questions, Mr. Jack Truemper from Stephens will be available at the district administration office on October 21st at 5:30 p.m. He’ll be there to answer questions prior to the regular school board meeting that evening.
